Are Rottweilers banned in Malaysia?

What are the licence rules for a Rottweiler in Malaysia?
Licensing is a local council matter and the rules differ by district. In Kuala Lumpur, DBKL lists the Rottweiler as one of six controlled breeds: you must attend and pass a dog-handling course, and the dog must complete and pass a Canine Good Citizen programme run by a body the Mayor approves, before a licence is issued.

How much do Rottweiler puppies cost in Malaysia?

The lineage labels are the seller's descriptions; we have not independently verified them. Before paying, request a written total, what registration and veterinary care it includes, and the deposit and refund terms. Budget separately for food, council licensing and veterinary care.
What should I check before buying a Rottweiler?
If a puppy is advertised as MKA-registered, ask to see its registration documents and confirm the identification and transfer arrangements. Request its veterinary and vaccination records, and meet the puppy and mother where they are kept.
For parental health screening, the American Rottweiler Club identifies hips, elbows, eyes, heart and juvenile laryngeal paralysis and polyneuropathy (JLPP) in its breeding guidance. This is breed-club guidance, not a Malaysian licensing rule. Ask for the named parents' actual reports, with identification and test dates, and have your vet explain the results and any gaps. Pedigree registration does not establish that these health checks were completed. If a seller provides an OFA CHIC number, OFA explains that it records completion and public disclosure of the required screening; it does not mean every result was normal. Read the individual results rather than relying on the number alone.

Do Rottweilers cope with Malaysia's heat?
Plan exercise for cooler conditions, with shade, water and rest. A short coat or local upbringing does not make hot-weather exercise safe; follow the RSPCA's overheating precautions. Care sources checked 19 September 2026.
